Hydraulic motors are used for many applications now ,such as winches and crane drives, wheel motors for military vehicles, self-driven cranes, and excavators. Conveyor and feeder drives, mixer and agitator drives, roll mills, drum drives for digesters, trommels and kilns, shredders for cars, tyres, cable and general garbage, drilling rigs and trench cutters.

Orbit motors are low-to-medium speed and medium-to-high torque,Which can be used in simple hydraulic system. Their benefits include low initial cost and high rpm.

Radial hydraulic motors are particularly good on low speed applications and can develop very high power,it applied in almost hydraulic driving.

Axial piston motors are generally used in high quality rotating drive systems.

HPHEN hydraulic starters produce higher torque and acceleration, resulting in faster and more reliable engine starts. HYPHEN hydraulic starting systems can overcome "black start" conditions using our hand pump to maintain critical operations during emergency situations. Contact us to request data or specifications for any model and prepare yourself to go further, longer, and faster with hydraulic starters Built for the Extreme.

SOFT ENGAGE VALVE
The soft engage valve is a pilot operated valve mounted between the control valve and hydraulic starter within the starting system. As the system fluid passes through the control valve, a small amount of oil is delivered to the starter allowing the smooth engagement of the pinion gear and the flywheel ring gear. Once the gears mesh, the valve opens completely and delivers full system fluid. The result is a smooth, powerful engine start.

CONTROL VALVES
Hydraulics offers several options when it comes to control valves. For those who are looking to actuate the hydraulic starting system manually, the two main options include foot pedal actuated and Bowden wire actuated valves. For operators interested in controlling starting system actuation via HMI (panel interface), Hyphen Hydraulics offers several options of solenoid operated valves that meet industry requirements including explosion proofing.
HAND PUMP
The Hyphen Hydraulics hand pump is a manual pump capable of regenerating system pressure for a starting attempt. Equipped with a 3-foot lever, the manual pump operates on “human” power and can recharge a hydraulic system in a black start condition. The Hyphen Hydraulics hydraulic starting system is the only system capable of being recharged manually thus one more reason why it’s relied upon in emergency starting applications.

TANKS & RESERVOIRS
Hyphen Hydraulics offers a full line of reservoirs in various capacities: 4, 7.5, 12.5, and 15 gallons. Our tanks feature painted heavy gauge steel with a fully removable lid for easy maintenance. The filler breather cap is made of high-quality chrome-plated steel. Each tank includes an easily readable sight level gauge which conveniently allows the monitoring of oil in the system.

Engine Starting Systems

  1. Why use an alternative to an electrical start motor?

Diesel engines in most applications and industries use the standard type electric starter motor as their method of primary starting. However if environmental, application or Black-start conditions dictate that electrical power is unsuitable or needs a backup solution, the alternatives of Hydraulic, Pneumatic, Gas or Spring powered starting supplied by IPU Starting is required.

  1. What is Black-start?

Black-start is an emergency condition when all primary and auxiliary electrical or alternative power has failed and a diesel engine (probably driving the emergency generator or fire pump) needs to be started. An Hyphen black-start system requires no external power, being completely self-contained with the ability to start a vast range of diesel engines used in all environments, applications and emergency situations.

  1. What system to use?

To determine what type of starting system requires information related to the capacity of the engine, the application, hazardous or non-hazardous environment, extra load upon the engine, space envelope and client specifications. HYPHEN’s 10 years of experience helps us provide the correct system for any situation.

  1. How does a Hydraulic start system work?

A hydraulic power starter motor replaces the traditional electric motor and is powered by a hydraulic fluid. The “energy” is generated by the use of gas loaded accumulators that store hydraulic fluid against compressed nitrogen gas. The fluid is released into the hydraulic circuit via a control valve to the hydraulic starter motor to start the engine.

  1. When would you use a hydraulic start system?

Because a hydraulic start system is always fitted with a hand-operated hydraulic pump for ultimate back up they are first choice for black-start applications. Hydraulic systems are used on larger engines and applications that require longer cranking duration because the duration can be lengthened with the addition of more gas-loaded accumulators

Hydraulic systems are ideally suited to hazardous areas where ZonedII or ATEX-approval is a requirement. HYphen’s hydraulic systems are compatible to an extensive range of engines and are suitable to all hazardous requirements.

6  .What systems are best suited in mining applications?

Air and hydraulic systems are the most commonly used in mining. Critically, no aluminium must be present due the risk of a thermite reaction. To ensure this all critical Hyphen Starting air and hydraulic starting components are of a cast iron construction and conform to current hazardous area and ATEX requirements
